LAUTECH Secures First Runner-Up Position at African Energy Innovation Challenge, Wins ₦1.4 Million Cash Prize
A team from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) emerged first runner-up at the 2025 African Energy Innovation Challenge, winning a ₦1.4 million cash prize for their project GRID GUARD, a smart energy infrastructure monitoring system designed to prevent transformer vandalism, enhance surveillance, and improve grid reliability. The team comprising Mubarak Erinfolami, Ajibade Ifeoluwa of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Faizat Olubori of Medicine developed the innovation under the mentorship of Prof. Tesleem Asafa, Director of the LAUTECH Centre for Emerging Skills and Technologies, and also secured the highest number of public votes, reflecting strong support for their idea.
