LAUTECH Students Appointed as British Council IAU Campus Ambassadors
Two outstanding students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso — Abu Gideon, a 200-level student from the Department of Information Systems, and Mubarak Erinfolami, a 400-level student from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering — have been appointed as British Council Innovation for African Universities (IAU) Campus Ambassadors.
Both students are members of the Green Advocate Champions (GAC), an initiative under the British Council-funded research project titled “Climate Change Literacy and Green Innovations and Entrepreneurship for Youth Employability and Job Creation (CCLGIE4YEJC)”, led by Prof. Justice O. Emuoyibofarhe of the Department of Information Systems.
As Campus Ambassadors, Gideon and Erinfolami will promote the British Council’s Innovation for African Universities (IAU) project, which aims to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems within higher education institutions across Africa. The initiative supports student-led projects in digital, green, and social enterprises, fostering entrepreneurship and employability among young people.
Their ambassadorial role will enable the duo to represent both LAUTECH and the British Council within Nigeria, across Africa, and in the United Kingdom. This position will facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange between institutions, enhancing cross-regional partnerships.
Beyond the global exposure and leadership experience the appointment brings, the recognition underscores LAUTECH’s growing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and youth empowerment. It also highlights the university’s dedication to preparing its students to take active roles in solving real-world challenges through research, creativity, and entrepreneurship — thereby strengthening its global reputation as a center of excellence.
